Employment Screening Tests

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

By Josh Riverside After the pre-screening of the applicant, the employee gets the details regarding the applicant’s credentials, education, and criminal background. The employer also has the other details such as drug abuse and sexual harassment records to ensure that the candidate does not create any problems later on. However, this screening does not provide the employer an insight of the technical and general knowledge possessed by the candidate. A different kind of screening test would be required to check if the candidate would be well suited for the post. Employee screening tests must provide accurate and relevant information with regards to the industry for which the candidate has applied. Pre-employment test selectors can help the employers decide on what screening would be necessary for the post for while the applicant applied. It can be used to assess the applicants abilities with respect to the applied post. The test selector has a very wide database consisting information regarding the skill sets required for a specific profession. The best would be picked up for the candidates assessment based on the skills the job requires. The test would reveal whether the candidate is fit for the job. The first part might contain general question relating to aptitude, math, and comprehensive English. The second part would have technical questions to enable the employer decide if the candidate has the requisite knowledge and abilities to handle the said job. Test selectors can be used to assess the candidates technical and general knowledge but it still depends on the hiring manager to decide on other factors before employing the individual. Also, the hiring manager must ensure that the test selector has been able to pick the correct assessment based on the requisites provided by the user. Employment Screening provides detailed information about employment screening, employment drug screening, and more. Employment Screening is affiliated with Background Checks. Information on Car Loans

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Vipul_J]Vipul J When you want to buy a car and do not have sufficient savings for it, you have the option to take out a car loan. You can take out a car loan to buy a new car or a used car. Car loans are usually secured. You have to offer a security to get a car loan. In most cases, the car that is being bought is offered as a security. You may also take out a homeowners loan or a home equity loan to purchase a car. When you go for a car loan, you must pay some money as down payment. This will reduce your monthly installments and consequently, your interest amount will get reduced. However, if you do not have money to pay the down payment, you will have to pay a larger amount of interest. If you want to pay less amount of interest, then you should look for a car loan with a short loan period. This will help you repay your car loan quickly. Apart from secured car loans about which we have discussed earlier, you may also take out an unsecured car loan. Unsecured car loans do not require collateral and carry high rates of interest. Unsecured car loans are usually personal loans that are readily available. They are usually repaid over a short period of time. A secured car loan is always a better option than an unsecured car loan. It becomes even more useful in case of a bad credit history. In order to keep the interest rate at a reasonably low level, you must go for a secured car loan if you have a bad credit score. You can refinance your car loan if you are not happy with the interest rate of your existing car loan. There are many lenders who are willing to refinance your car loan. The rate of interest on the new loan is lower than the rate on the existing car loan. This will save your money by helping you pay less interest. Finding a cheap car loan is not a problem nowadays. You can compare car loan quotes offered by various lenders over the internet. How to Make Handmade Envelopes

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Kim Monaco Looking for an easy, family-friendly craft idea? Handcrafting envelopes is a very easy, fun and inexpensive craft project for all - adults and children. Only a few simple tools are needed to make an envelope - an envelope template (can be purchased at a store or created at home - read on!), pen or pencil, glue, scissors and paper. The first step in making an envelope involves the envelope template. Envelope templates can be easily crafted at home. To make an envelope template at home, choose any size envelope, open it up and unglue the flaps - instant envelope template. The second step to making handmade envelopes is quick and easy, too. Choose a piece of paper (any paper works!), and lay the envelope template on the paper. Trace the outline of the envelope template with a pencil or a pen on the chosen paper. The next simple step takes one back to kindergarten, use the scissors and cut along the drawn outline. Finally, just follow the template for where to fold and crease, use some glue to seal the flaps - be sure to leave an opening for the envelope contents! Stuff the handmade envelope with the contents and that’s it! Handmade envelopes can be created from a variety of papers for a unique look every time. Some paper examples include cardstock, construction paper, scrapbook paper, vellum, magazine pages, gift wrap, wallpaper, stamped paper - be creative and have fun with it! Make homemade envelopes in a variety of different sizes too. Envelopes can be gift enclosure sized to 9×12 large size or anything in between. Handmade envelopes are a simple craft for anyone. Beware, creating handmade envelopes is addictive! Finding the Right Car Loan for You

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Neil_Chilvers]Neil Chilvers So the time has come to purchase a car. A big decision in anybodys life and one we have to make sometimes far too often. That being said it is also a great time of excitement for the prospective new car owner regardless of whether youre buying a brand new Rolls Royce or something a little less ostentatious. Of course the key to purchasing your new pride and joy is having the required funds necessary to make that new dream machine a reality in the drive way. But dont forget the extras that always go with any new car, those being insurance and road fund licence as well as the obligatory air freshener, key ring and new mats to complement your new ride. So remember when youre budgeting for your new wheels not to forget the essential extras. So what is the right car loan or finance for you, well thats a question that requires any prospective purchaser to do there homework and see what is out there. Dont just take the offer of finance put on the table by the dealer trying to sell you the car. Remember these guys are trying to get the maximum profit from their sale to you so you may find the repayments are not in your favor. More often than not the APR offered by dealer finance is highly uncompetitive when compared to your average High Street lender. The main thing you gain from dealer finance is not having to go elsewhere to arrange a loan. You should still get a warranty if its included with the car and any other perks the dealer is offering. So where do I go for a better APR rate than the dealer? Well the first place is the high street as said before. Banks & Building societys have loan rates for any purpose that are usually much more competitive and if you get one with our own Bank or Building society they will know you and may offer you great repayment deals. But the real goldmine for car buyers anywhere is of course the internet, with a global marketplace lenders can loan anyone anywhere any product they like. This makes for a highly competitive market where all the lenders can complete for your business and are quite literally falling over each other to offer you the best deal and gain your custom. Sites such as [http://www.creditmonster.co.uk]creditmonster.co.uk have searched out the most competitive loan and finance deals and put them all in one easy place. Sites such as this offer you the choices and easy to follow sign up procedures all from the comfort of your living room, no need to traipse the high street any more. Remember when you take out any form of finance or loan that you are responsible for any contract you sign up for and so you must always read the small print and make sure you understand any contract you enter into fully. Take your time find out the deal with the APR and repayments to suit you. But most of all get the financial side right first off and then leave yourself free to enjoy your new purchase. A Fun Gadget For Kids - The Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By Anmol Taneja As a father of two young youths, we are always seeking fun gadgets to play with. Our most favorite fun gadget ever is the Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum. This toy captures bugs through the use of a battery operated gun-style vacuum. The insects are sucked into a clear plastic capsule that is complete with a magnifying glass for viewing. The Summer Of The Insect Adventure In total honesty, we played with this fun gadget the entire summer. We caught every tiny insect that we could capture. The vacuum is powerful enough to suck most insects directly into the attached holding capsule, yet it isnt strong enough to injure the insects. The holding capsule is complete with a magnifying glass and a flip bottom so that the insects can be easily viewed and released once the observation is complete. A Complete World Of Fun Gadgets For Insect Observations Backyard Safari has created supplemental fun gadget that work with the bug vacuum. The bug habitat is large enough to accommodate a number of insects. However you want to insure that you do not combine insects that consume one another or you will have an entirely different observation within moments. If your child enjoys long walks while bug collecting, there are pocket size bug habitats that your child can attach to a backpack or belt loop. These tiny pocket watch shaped habitats provide the perfect environment for a short-term guest. There are two different designs, one design is intended for any type of bug and the other is designed specifically as an ant habitat. The Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum is a fun gadget for any boy or girl. I must admit, as fun gadgets go, this also makes a great spider catcher inside the house as well and would be a hit with many moms. The Skinny on Low Carb Diet Plans

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

By Morgan Hamilton Have you tried the latest diet craze? This is a common thing for Americans to try new diets as they are always interested in the new big things. Of course, we might benefit from it sometimes, but we should be well aware of what we are getting into first. Nowadays there are plenty of diets available. Check the media and you will see I am right. Every time I turn on my TV or radio I listen to different ways to lose weight for little time. There are people trying to find that wonderful pill which will suck off the fat and it won’t require any other efforts, while others have a more realistic view. The most popular diet nowadays includes low carb diet plans. It is estimated that massive amount of carbs are not good for the body, on the contrary, they pack on the fat. Have you tried any of the low carb diet plans available? My wife is currently testing out one. I personally needed some time to fully get the method of these low carb diets. Generally, we are all aware of the fact that there are some fats which are bad and we should try to avoid them because they cause us to gain weight. There are calories, as well. This was the main factor neglected in dieting for years. Everyone only thought about the fat intake but forgot about calories. The average daily consumption of calories is about 2000. But we are all different and the average might not be good for us. What really matters is that you should make sure your caloric intake consists of healthy foods. This is how you keep fit and healthy. If you consume lots of carbs, your body won’t be able to burn them all and they will cause you to gain weight. Low carb diet plans pay attention to the importance of protein. In case you are not aware of it, protein is responsible for making our bodies strong and for building our muscles. The kind of weight you want to gain is muscle weight. If you are getting these pounds, then you shouldn’t worry, you only have to stay away from getting fat pounds. It is always sensible to think about the way you look and not about the kilos you weigh. I should tell you that as muscle weighs more than fat. In case you are interested in one of the low carb diet plans, it is best to hop online and search the Internet. If you have any questions, you will find the answers online. As well as low carb diets, you will find many other useful information online related to fitness trainings and exercise regime. Dating Advice: Even Today, Men Still Enjoy the Chase

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

By Ronnie Ann Ryan This article might seem shocking and archaic, but its all true. The other night I had dinner with my husband and two of his single male friends (Ben and Jack) who launched into a tirade about dating today. These good-looking, 40 something, self-employed bachelors are frustrated with trying to find a decent woman. I couldnt believe it. The Problem? Ben and Jack think women today act desperate. Of course I asked for specifics what does desperate look like? Turns out it boils down to two very basic and rather traditional concepts: 1)Men dont want women to chase them 2)Men dont like when the chase is too easy Dating is an Ancient Mating Ritual What? How can this be in an age of equality between the sexes? Its really very simple dating harkens back to ancient mating rituals that have not gone away, nor been modified as much as women would hope. Dating Guidelines from the “Fellas” According to Ben, Jack and others, here are some guidelines that women might try following if they want to be perceived as quality prospects during your initial encounters with men: 1) With online dating, dont initiate a flood of emails. Some women email multiple times a day which makes them appear demanding, needy, or high maintenance. Frequent contact can cause him to feel crowded. Initially, let men set the pace. 2) Dont Call to Say Hi, Check in, or Discover Why He hasnt Called. This is seen as pushy and desperate. If you dont like the slow pace, perhaps the guy isnt the right one for you. If you feel compelled to call when you havent heard from him, don’t make more than one light-hearted and friendly call. Thats it. Either hell pick up the ball or not, but leave that ball in his court. 3) As horrible as this old saying is, Theres no reason to buy the cow if the milk is free. The double-standard is still alive! While all men dont feel this way, its pretty hard to know who does and who doesn’t before its too late. The best course of action is to hold off on intimacy to insure you’ll get the respect you want and deserve. The Chase Remains Important and Desirable Most men still prefer to pursue women during the initial phase of dating. They want to chase and win you over, rather than feel like youre a push over. Its not about playing really hard to get. It is about not being too available or overly enthusiastic. Simple human nature creates the desire to want what isnt readily available and without this tension, there’s nothing to “conquer.” If you think about it, women feel the same way. My female clients complain all the time about men who are too nice, clingy, or come on too strong. Or think about all the women who love “bad boys;” men who are unavailable or unattainable. This is the flip side of the very same coin, so to speak. My conclusion about Ben and Jacks perspective on dating is this: For better or worse, the Dating Game is still in play. You can deny it or fight against it if you want. But that won’t change the cold, hard facts from most men’s perspective. Youre Best Bet is to Play the Game Instead of chasing someone and risking the appearance of desperation, use your feminine charm to draw a man in. Let him know and see why youre a great catch. Demonstrate your delightful character by being fun to be with and looking your best. Flirt with him, flatter and praise him (but keep it genuine please), and show appreciation by thanking him. And, let him lead the way for at least the first 4-8 dates. It may be old school but theres no arguing with what has worked well for eons and still works today. Try following this plan and discover how well it can work for you too. Chances are, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Complacency, Like Many Other Common Marriage Problems, is Like the Plague

Monday, November 19th, 2007

By Terry Ross Complacency like many other common marriage problems is a bit like the plague. Its catching and it spreads, you dont hear it and you dont see it and by the time you realise what is happening the damage is done. Dont ever become complacent, like everything else in life marriage has to be worked at, the relationship nurtured and your partner cared for. If youve fallen into the common marriage problems trap and let the rot set in but want to save your marriage my advice is to go back to basics. It is so easy to fall into a daily routine, fuelled by responsibilities and just forget what relationships are all about. With so much to do each day, and without the need to plan to meet each other, relationships tend to be pushed to the back, treated as something that doesnt need to be attended to and left to just bumble along. Often we fail to make time for our partners and when we do, its often some stolen moments at the end of a long hard day when we lack the energy to show how much we love and appreciate each other and are just too tired to have any fun. When spouses begin to feel neglected they often start with the subtle plea, a gentle reminder that they feel that they arent important any more, that they feel unloved, undervalued and that another of those common marriage problems, boredom with the daily routine has set in. And so the rot begins It is all too easy to brush aside their pleas, just assume that they know you love them, expect them to understand that you are tired, believe that they will understand that you dont have the time and all too soon the habit continues and you forget the initial signs that the marriage is in trouble. If you continue to ignore the early unrest it can seem a clear indication to your partner that life is more important than they are. It wont matter that you are getting stick at work or that the children need ferrying around or that other responsibilities are getting in the way, they will just see this big neon sign saying you dont love me any more, you dont want to save your marriage, no advice, no gentle nudge, no subtle plea is going to make a difference. It is critical that no matter what life throws at us we show that we value our partners, and our relationships, every day of our lives. Common marriage problems such as complacency, boredom, jealousy, lack of trust and even infidelity just creep up on us, out of nowhere, and without us making an effort what we craved, what we worked for and what we have enjoyed can crumble away before our very eyes. All it takes is those small gestures, nothing fancy, nothing time consuming, nothing expensive just small and thoughtful little gestures that show love, respect and affection for each other. An indication that we still appreciate our marriage, our relationship and the life we have together. If you want to save your marriage, my advice is make your spouse your top priority, let them see that they are valuable and precious, and that above all they and their feelings come first. Compliments should be regular, not a thing of the past and not something that you believe is no longer required. Make sure your spouse knows that you appreciate them, respect them, love them and admire then and above all make sure that they know that you want to be with them. Ensure that you spend time together and relax, enjoy and appreciate each others company. Dont loose those intimate moments no matter how hard it is. Touch hands when passing, hold hands when you walk, kiss each other hello and goodbye, make time for a cuddle every day and never loose the excitement of the fleeting glance and the odd caress. If you fail to keep that bond between you your relationship will start to slide and before you know it what was once a loving marriage will become an empty shell. Complacency is a very true and common marriage problem, dont assume it wont happen to you and dont assume that you know each other so well that you dont need to make an effort. Some marriages take more work than others but all marriages need nurturing to survive. My Weight Reduction Story

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

By K. Kemper I am going on 59 yrs old. My doctors over the years told me that I had to cut down onMy cholesterol and my weight. I have been told that for 15 years. I half-heartedly tried touCut the weight and failed. I weighed 241.5 as of Sept 5, 2005. I am 5 ft 9 inches tall; thus, I am 55 lbs overweight. I live a rather sedentary lifestyle and I love to eat ice cream, other sweets and pasta. I also WILL NOT go to a gym nor join the weight losing groups. I also will not count my calories like a nut job. My Asiatic physician, a VERY nice but THIN gent, very politely reminded me many times; yo will need to be on medication until you successfully lose 55 lbs. I am on blood thinning medicine, plus aspirin and cholesterol reducing meds. Every day. I hate it. But it allows me to sleep easier. For 4 yrs, I half heartedly cut down on my intake of this and that. I did a bit of walking [I used to be a speed walker]. NOTHING worked. Nothing. My very nice physician reminded me EVER so politely that AS LONG as a person consumes fewer calories thanHe burns off, he will lose weight; it is a medical fact. I almost yelled at him 3 times. Nothing is working. I only drink 6 sodas a day and chips 3 times a day and I stop eating at 11 pm. NOTHING is working. And I walk 2 miles a day. HIS advice was not working. OR, as Dr. Phil would say, are you being honest? NO. I was not. NOW it just so happens that I live across the street from a gentleman who is 6 yrs older than myself and he has less than 1% fat on his body. He looks like he weighs 250 lbs.I challenged him POLITELY 4 months ago. HE got on a scale and it read 205. I got on;240. Damn. NOT possible. HE was bigger than me and had a pot too. And he did not walk long distances like I do. Whoops, Dr. Phil time again; Honesty; my friend easilyadvised me that he ate a fair sized breakfast and he pigged out at lunch. At dinner, hehad a glass of milk. Period. HE never had a weight problem, his weight varied by at most, 10 lbs in a year. I was so mad in August 2005 that I would scream at myself. MY stomach actually made me look pregnant! THAT was absurd. I again talked to my neighbor and reviewed my own determination and my exercise program. Something I was doing had to change. I demanded of myself to lose 55 lbs. I did not want to wait 5 yrs. I wanted it off by next Spring, at the latest. I would have to increase my exercise and cut my calories. PURE and simple. So, on about Sept 4, 2005, when it came time for dinner, I accepted my new rule and had only water. I kept up my same exercise program. Within one week, I went from 241.5 to 238. I would get hunger pangs that would not stop and I realized that something had to give from my old program, so, if hunger pangs were part of the new program, I would accept them. End of week 2, down to 236. NO dinner, no snack of any type and 2 casual miles a day. I wanted more action. I had to alter something; I chose to increase my exercises; to 4 miles a day, with 2 of them done at a time. End of week 3, down to 234. Week 4, 232. IT is now 8 weeks and I was at 218.5 naked, this morning after my first walk [I walk attired]. Before breakfast. I have two scales and these unique things have popped up. First, my two scales, even after being evened out with a 1 gallon water container being placed on each, each scale shows 8 lbs, the weight of 1 gallon of water. But thereafter, the one scale, older yet adjustable, often shows a 6 lb reduction in weight compared to the digital readout newer scale. Phooey. IT appears that my walking shorts, and tennis shoes and T shirt weigh 3 lbs. I usually lose lb after a walk. HOWEVER, I eat out every Saturday morning and such meal seems to stick 2-4 lbs on me. I have not been able to figure that out, as I eat fewer than 1,000 calories and the food weighs under 1 lb. OH well. I am also learning that the body SETTLES in at a certain weight for a while. That meansThat sometimes, when mathematically, I weigh 218 in the morning and I do all myExercises to burn off what I have eaten, I may be 220 at night. The next morning, sometimes I am down 1 lb and sometimes, I am up one pound. It is said we grow an inchEach night and shirk during the day. Go figure. IT is now the day after Thanksgiving. I told my lady that I am a bit flexible; as to when we eat and what I eat during holidays. I know with my regimen, I will cut the poundsAs I have been; 1.5 to 2 per week. The additional frustrating part is, after an arbitraryAmount of exercising, I am gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat does. So, AS I drop, I lose and I then get stronger and I gain. But the program is working. And the experts tell me, the more muscle I have, it aids in my fat burning [I cant seem to figure that one out]. According to experts, I am on a fast track to losing. Good for me. I deserve it.I now get friends who try to get me to eat extra or snack and I say NO. NO thanks. By Christmas, was at 215, by the new year, 210 and by July 2006, 188. I am finding too that as I add more muscle, the weight gaining is growing so I haveTo work a bit harder. I will gladly volunteer this; when I went to the movies last weekend to see Harry Potter,We got to the theatre complex early and I went outside to check things out. I frequently saw myself in shop windows and I was pleasantly surprised! My tummy bulge was gone! I am not skinny at all at 191 but [dressed] LOOK way skinnier than 241 ever did. I am proud of myself. YOU can do it too. NO cost!! NO gym, no memberships and no special food to buy. Just honesty. I Love Craft E-books!

Friday, November 16th, 2007

By Xandra Veal Before I get completely carried away, I am assuming that, as you’re reading an online article, you know what an e-book is? In the off-chance that you don’t, it’s really just like any other book in content - but it’s a computer file and as such doesn’t exist in the “real world”. It’s true that some e-books are also printed, but that’s not the point as that is then an ordinary book. E-books come in a number of formats - too many to go into here - but increasingly I think it’s the Adobe PDF format that is the most popular. The reader software is always free (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html) and it works on all PCs, Apple Macs and, as far as I am aware, virtually all popular hand held devices like Palm, etc. There are a small number of dedicated portable reading devices that PDF doesn’t work on, but that’s such as small percentage of the market it’s not relevant to us as craftspeople. Trust me, if you’re going to buy an e-book, or your going to write one, use PDF. But why e-books anyway? There are hundreds of hard cover and soft cover books out there, enough choice for everyone you might think. So why bother with e-books at all? Well for a start, as far as I’m concerned there will never be too much choice! You can’t ever have too many ideas - and this is one of the main benefits of e-books. You see e-books are much cheaper to publish than “normal” books. A traditional publisher has to do a lot of math before deciding to produce a book. There’s paper, ink, print costs, storage, distribution… and all this has nothing to do with whether the book is a good one or not - just whether it’s “commercially viable”. On the other hand, you can produce an e-book on your computer - right now. You can set up a website to promote it. People can buy it and download it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world. I’m not saying it’s necessarily an easy thing - I’ve collaborated on quite a few and it’s hard work - but it is do-able, and you aren’t restricted by the commercial considerations of traditional publishing. The great benefit that this gives us is that smaller interest groups can be catered for. An e-book publisher doesn’t have to sell “X” number of copies just to break even, they can do it for the love of the subject. Sure, if it ages a few bucks that’s nice too - but it doesn’t need to be the main motivation. And so we get really knowledgeable, creative people sharing their skills with us. People who might never have been published normally can give us the benefit of what they’ve learned in pursuit of their craft. There are a couple of practical benefits as well. Because it’s a digital file you download it to your PC in minutes. You don’t have to wander the shops, you don’t have to wait for the mail and, because there are no delivery costs, they’re quite often cheaper. You can read it on screen or print just some of the pages out - which if you think about it is particularly pertinent to crafts people. For example, if you knit and your e-book has patterns, then you only need print them out - not try to balance the whole book on your lap or on the arm of your chair. If you’re a wood or leather worker, for example, you can just print the relevant patterns or instructions and take them to your workshop or studio - and of course because the book is digital you can do this once, twice, a hundred or more times. So no more trips to the copy shop either! Finally - and I’ve done this one myself - you don’t have to worry about those little “accidents” ruining your precious book. If you spill coffee or paint or anything over you just go back to the computer and print another one! So I know what you’re asking - what about the downsides? An e-book isn’t exactly a treasured possession for your library, is it. True - and I probably wouldn’t buy my favorite novel as an e-book to curl up in front of on the sofa. But I’m talking about craft e-books. They are reference works, instructional, often with patterns - so yes, I prefer them. The only down side I can think of is that because they’re relatively cheap to publish there are occasionally a few which aren’t of the best quality. But even then there’s a solution that you won’t often find in the world of “normal” books. Almost every craft e-book publisher I know of has so much faith in their product they offer a 100% no-quibble money back guarantee. So you can’t loose. If you don’t like the book you simply ask for your money back. Try that at your local bookstore.
